It is hard as a parent to slowly turn over to our children responsibility for their own lives, isn't it?
That may be a lot harder when they have special needs (I am not sure).
But God reminds me again and again that my saved child has the same Holy Spirit I have, not a junior Holy Spirit, nor a different Holy Spirit for disabled people. The same Holy Comforter.
Last night I missed a few calls from Joey. He had read something about predestination and was distressed. He wanted me to side 100% with human choice and to say that predestination is not even mentioned in the Bible (I think he was thinking of the Free Will Baptist position).
God led me to put it back on him. I asked him to download the Blue Letter Bible onto his iPad from our family account on Apple, then to go to the top right corner and locate "search." I said to put in predestination, predestinate, and any other variants of the word that came to mind. I challenged him to always do that with Biblical words he doesn't understand, from now on.
We will talk about his questions later, but I want him to learn to begin his study with what God says about a subject. Let God be true and all men a liar (even if a beloved parent turns out to be mistaken on a subject!).
Praise the Lord!
I'm thankful that he knows the Lord and want to follow him, sweet young man.❤️
Amen
One thing that makes me so happy about Joey is he really does start each day with Bible reading over breakfast. When he was home for Christmas there were a couple of times his devotions were longer than mine. He was part of my inspiration to spend more time delving into the Word this year.
He has his challenges (some that no one who is not Pastor or Marci will ever know) but we are absolutely certain he knows the Lord and wants to follow Him!
I think that is good advice. In my experience with my (2) girls I’ve found that they like my opinion on things but that doesn’t always satisfy them in making a final decision. In short, they need to unearth the answer on their own and in the light of biblical study.
What wonderful sound advice. I love it 🙏🏽❤️
