On Memorial Day 6 years ago, many of you came to the Norfolk Airport to send me off to this work God has called me to do! And what a work HE continues to do! Last year, I celebrated my permanent residency on this day. Today, I spent the day with my church family here. God has done this work! And to top it all off, I got a call tonight from a church I presented at in Florida in late March that they voted to take me on for support last night in their service. What a way to end a wonderful celebration! Thank you to each one of you who makes this work possible for me and scores of other missionaries like me because of your commitment to worldwide missions. It does not go unnoticed by your missionaries!

Today makes one year since Mom breathed her last terrestrial air and went to meet Jesus. I have stood at her grave twice this year, sad that I cannot talk to her or hug her anymore, but knowing she would not come back if given a choice.
She was a good mom. We never went without food, clothes, shelter, warmth, and books for me. We never suffered the insecurity of thinking we might. We knew about Jesus as soon as we knew about the physically present people in our family. He was taught to us that naturally and we were taken to church every week because we need Him in good times and in bad.
I need Him today!
Hope it is okay to crosspost this here from Facebook! It occurred to me that I was saying this to high school friends I have not seen in person for fifty years, as well as to Navy colleagues from throughout my career, but the people who encourage me to run to the cross are right here!
