I read somewhere yesterday that soon artificial intelligence will be able to write a sermon with Chat GPT.
Pastor reminds us often to work to overcome feelings of inadequacy, fear, and embarrassment about things that can happen when we try to present the gospel.
What if we didn't have to do that anymore? What if a chatbot would do it for us? Could we turn the Great Commission over to AI?
You see I jest, of course. God gave the Great Commission to us and I don't see any escape clauses in it for introverts, extroverts, or any other category of human.
I remember hearing before that the church runs about 20 years behind society in its trends. Since I work (and try to obey the Great Commission) in a military setting, I think I see a trend making its way from the secular ranks to the church. What do you think?
The trend is to regard awkwardness as the new unforgivable sin. Anything can be forgiven our fellow humans except that. Drunkenness, drug usage, carousing, all can be easily overlooked, but just don't be awkward while doing it! The cry "awwwk-ward" is the new scarlet letter.
No wonder we are so fearful of sharing the gospel. No wonder we almost wish that chatbot would do it for us.
I have been far from perfect in my witness these 42 years of association with the military. I have taken some opportunities God has sent my way and have been very happy to have had some really clear talks with unbelievers. But when I get to heaven, I will probably find out God sent me ten times as many opportunities as I ever took!
I am learning, however, that awkwardness is only a temporary feeling. Hell is forever.
May we all make the chatbots unnecessary! :-)
Remembering that the Sanhedrin noticed their boldness and took knowledge of them that they had been with Jesus …. Help us to be bold because we have been with Him!
