Show me the tomb where Thou wast laid,
Tenderly mourned and wept;
Angels in robes of light arrayed
Guarded Thee whilst Thou slept.
We sang these words last Sunday. And, as always, I pondered the image of those angels watching devotedly over the Saviour until His resurrection. It is such a picture of perfect quiet and perfect love in my mind. How could they not love this One who had just poured out His precious life for His errant creation? Did they know He would arise? Or were they prepared to stay with Him until eternity began if He did not? The Bible says angels wish to look into many of the mysteries of how the God-man related to us. Did they know He was going to awaken? Or did they hear about that and the rest of the plan later (I assume they too can read the Bible so they would have found out by now!)?
Beautiful picture of some of Christ's servants being totally faithful to Him. May we be faithful, too.
I think sometimes I hear songs but never focus on the actual words. Here, these words, give me goose bumps.
