Most of y'all know my constant prayer since February 24, 2022 is for God to bring about a David vs. Goliath ending to the war in Ukraine. Even if the reasons the Russians cited for the original invasion were true (which I do not believe), no country invades another over that country's internal sins. Imagine if we invaded Mexico due to a belief that it is internally corrupt or if Canada invaded us due to some of our internal corruption!

The events of the last week have reminded me that God is still sovereign concerning Russia, as well as all other countries.

I think the reason I have been so adamant about Ukraine is that the war stands for a violation of God's created order. Throughout history, nation has invaded nation over perceived wrongs. God lets this happen for now but He did not create us to start wars on the flimsiest of excuses. That is disordered behavior at a national level.

We have some of that, too. We are not invading sovereign nations to try to create an empire but during the month of June in the U.S., Bible believers tiptoe carefully all month long to avoid the disordered thinking and behavior on display with the full endorsement of our government.

When God displays His sovereign hand in Russia, even just for a little while, we are reminded that world rulers answer to a sovereign God, whether they currently understand that or not. He can shake things up unexpectedly anywhere He wants, using whomever He wills. His created order will not be trampled underfoot forever. He will make things right for all eternity, but He often chooses to deal with them in this world, too.

I am so glad we know Him. We are so limited in our thinking but He knows all and sovereignly leads history along the path He has ordered.
