The following was written by former evangelist, current pastor, and friend of Tabernacle David Cajiuat and is presented here with his permission.
As we draw near the end of "Pastor Appreciation Month" this goes out to all the pastors that I know (and evangelists and missionaries too!)
Skeptic: "Why would anyone want to be a pastor? They don’t make much money. What does a pastor even make?"
Pastor: "I make a trip to the hospital at 3am because someone is gravely ill.
I make an effort to be at ballgames of the children of our congregants.
I make a visit to those who haven’t been to church because I want them to know that they are valued.
I make time to sit with a young couple who have just lost a baby and cry with them, or be there to welcome their newborn into this world.
I make the effort to study the bible to bring to them God’s Word.
I make sermons that God provides, to offer hope to the destitute soul, encouragement to the disheartened, loving confrontation to those who need to be reminded to obey God, and comfort to those struggling in life’s storms.
I make the effort to let people feel welcome, valued, and that their soul is important.
I make the time to share the greatest news of Jesus Christ and His plan of redemption, even if it may mean that I’ll lose some friends and family over it.
I make a trip to the funeral home with a family to help them make arrangements in the passing of their loved one.
I make arrangements to guide and counsel with a couple to celebrate a life together in a godly marriage
I make time to share a meal with a stranger, church members, and friends, just because I want to know them better.
I make food to deliver to families who are struggling to put food on their own table.
I make time on my knees to pray for our church and those outside our church.
What do I make?
I try to make it possible for people to be ready to enter the afterlife joyfully.
I try to make a difference that points people to Jesus who makes all the eternal difference and no amount of money on earth is worth that.
That’s what I make: an eternal difference as an Ambassador for my Savior."
Thank you pastors for all that you do and the difference you've made in so many lives, including mine!!!!
Wonderfully written!! 💕
Noel and I thank the LORD for our pastors.
