Oh my word, what hit us on the way to church/the prayer rooms last night?
As I exited 64, the threatening black clouds gave way to a river from the sky, accompanied by hail pounding my windshield!
I drove as carefully as I could down Reon and Providence, glad that most people were more sensible than to be out in that, LOL!
When I got down Whitehurst Landing and into the church parking lot, about ten vehicles were already there, including one immediately inside the entrance, probably just a neighbor sheltering in the parking lot until things cleared up!
I parked close to the church and considered running inside to keep away from the windshield of Noel's Santa Fe. But then I remembered that I had brain surgery in 2020 and decided that the same hail that could crack Noel's windshield could crack my head, too.
As I waited in the car for a break in the storm, I texted my bestie in sunny Northern Virginia. We made various jokes about Noah and the flood and Abraham and the destruction of Sodom!
I eventually got in when the hail stopped and the rain slowed down, to share "horror stories" with our brothers and sisters who came to pray!
When I got home, I found a dead turtle in our driveway. He looked crushed but we had not run him over! I think the wind picked him up and dropped him, poor guy!
And the worst story of all came from our friend who was playing golf in Portsmouth when the storm hit. He drives a sports car and came back through the flooded downtown tunnel (two feet of water)! A man was directing traffic and even offered to let Brian back up out of there. Instead Brian turned on the camera and filmed his journey through (water came into the car). Whoa, I do not envy him this morning's damage assessment. At least Noel's Santa Fe does not show any dents!
God is always good!
I couldn't even get out Mary. Everywhere I turned, roads were flooded. I decided not to take the chance that your friend took. I came back home. Thank God for his protection. Glad y'all are safe.
This tale has not been proofread. It needs to be blue pencilled to reflect that her safety is far more important than any car A blessed day to all! (Editor)
