My dad is having a knee replacement on Tuesday. As you know, at age 86 this is a big deal.
My brother and I, over 20 years younger, have arthritic knees. But Dad's progress was hastened by something he did that is very characteristic of him.
Almost four years ago, when Mom was going through the pandemic in the memory unit, Dad got in to see her whenever she was not locked down. She went downhill fast in that social isolation.
One day, Dad was walking with her and she started to fall. Knowing he could not keep her upright, he rolled into the fall with her, but ended up breaking the fall for both of them with that knee that has not been right since that day. He still says he would do it all over again.
Mom died two years ago---they were each other's first date at age 14. As Dad likes to say, "I had one date. It lasted 70 years." Such a sweet legacy.
😁👍
Thank you, everyone. I will let you know when it is over tomorrow. My heart trusts in a God who always does right!
