This morning I went to do that annual thing that all breast cancer survivors dislike the worst :-) and, as I was called up, the voice calling me said, "Is this the Mrs. Martin I know?"
I was my old friend Roslyn from before the pandemic. Some of you prayed for her at the time we did the Exchange because I had asked her to lunch at Cheesecake Factory to see whether she would like to do the Exchange with me. Our conversation centered on the Lord; she and her son and her mom are Lutheran believers but I did not get to narrow down our conversation at the time to her beliefs about how we are saved. She did agree enthusiastically with my testimony on my salvation.
God knit our hearts together back then, pre-pandemic, because I had a scary mammogram and a callback (which was fine, but she saw me before I knew that) and she had just gone through the experience that made the paper when several Greenbrier Christian Academy students were bounced from their senior trip over writing a racist term on their food in a restaurant. Roslyn is Black and it was heartbreaking because her son was a senior at GCA and had considered himself good friends with these boys since first grade. In her sorrow, she comforted me; in my sorrow, I comforted her. God used it all for good between us and to launch a good gospel conversation.
Roslyn's son has since moved on to Newport News Shipbuilding and college engineering courses. He is doing great!
I still have her number. I think God wants me to recontact her when we get back from vacation. Will you pray with me that I will be able to do that?
Yes we will pray for an open door
