this Sunday was the first official day of prison ministry. During the meeting on Saturday, we were told that we will be given the opportunity to go to the juvenile detention center. Mr. Morlan said that all those who were interested may go today. I was interested and so I came to the meeting at 2 o’clock and me and two other girls went with the lady who goes to the girls jail pods. I was then informed that I am not allowed into the prisons unless I am 21 years old. I am still a part of the prison ministry, but I strictly work with the juvenile detention boys and girls. I will be going in each week to different pods giving a Bible lesson and the gospel and praying and singing with the teens. I got to counsel two girls today who had a really good questions about why bad things happen to good people and how can we know that God is real. they didn’t accept the Lord as their Savior, but I then went to the boys jail pod and two boys I talked to accepted the Lord as their Savior and they will be released from juvenile detention tomorrow. Please pray for them as they do not have families they can go to. I have no idea where they will place them. these kids can be in juvenile detention for small things as stealing or for bigger crimes such as murder. I did not ask any of the children why they were in there. I simply just wanted to give them the Gospel. I am so thankful to be apart of this ministry and I now understand why the Lord convicted me to join the prison ministry- because He knew all along i’d end up working with children and teens. The oldest in the jail pods are 17 and the youngest I met today was 13. Please pray for these teens as most of them do not have parents or families who take them and they are put on the streets to fend for themselves and end right back up in juvenile detention. Thank you!
PRAYER REQUESTS
Thank you to Pastor and Marci and all of my church family for your prayers, texts, and calls as my mother went to heaven this past Sunday. I am thankful that I was able to be with her. It was not expected. God went before me and led me in each decision. He is faithful!
Please keep us in your prayers as we make arrangements for a graveside family service in Durham, NC. We are still working to settle a date around the Christmas holidays. Pray for me to be organized in these details and to be a blessing to my brother, Matt.
