Today we are in the Port of Souda Bay, Crete. These pics are from the city of Chania, pronounced ,Hanea. This town is made up of Armenian, Greek Othodox, Roman Catholic and Jewish. In 1941 Jews were advised to travel to Thessaloniki for safety. They traveled in a ship under a Nazii insignia. Unfortunately, the notice of this didn't reach the Allied troops and , I think, a out 800 Jews died from Allied strike on boat
3 families stayed hidden here in Chania hidden by friends and survived and have kept their community alive.
