I just found these views of Theodore Roosevelt's cabin on what was once his ranch and is now TR National Park in North Dakota. It has been moved up near the South Unit Gate. The ranch location itself, in the middle of the park, often requires an off-road vehicle for access. There were several places in the park where roads were marked inaccessible, ostensibly due to flooding. That seemed to be a pattern at large national parks.
Theodore Roosevelt bought the ranch long before he was president and retreated there when his wife and mother both died on the same day. He found comfort and serenity there and often said he would never have been president if not for the solace and solitude of these badlands.
Noel and I were glad to read so much about TR at the park--by the time we got to Mt. Rushmore he had become a new hero of ours.
