Encouragement
This made my heart happy today on Facebook:
Dr. Marty Marriott, who heads Maranatha U. up in Wisconsin, made it to Midwestern Baptist Seminary/Spurgeon College in Kansas City to see his son receive his doctorate yesterday. His son said,
“With gratitude to our faithful and enabling God, my Doctor of Ministry is officially complete. Soli Deo Gloria! 🙌🏽
Romans 11:36 For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen. 📖
. . .
My parents had been plotting to come for months and made a huge effort to drive from Wisconsin. I dedicated my dissertation to my Dad with these words: “This work is dedicated to my father, Pastor Marty Marriott, who is battling late-stage cancer. Dad, you taught me to honor the Scriptures, to love sound doctrine, to emphasize conversion, and to serve our Lord Jesus Christ. Soon enough, Dad, when the sufferings of this present time are complete, we will both rest in glory. Until then, I love you.”

I’m so glad the dad made it! And what a beautiful tribute to his dad!
