Finally Gettysburg!
The last day of our weeklong tour yesterday, we hit something that we have wanted to see for a very long time, Gettysburg. It’s not New England but we just had to do it.
We saw the movie, cyclorama, museum, and took the bus tour. Good thing we did the museum last as we were at Gettysburg seven hours and could have stayed another day!
My favorite part, having seen the Gettysburg movie four or five times (part of it was required officer curriculum back in the day), was Little Round Top. Joshua Chamberlain is one of my heroes. And we had even passed right by Bowdoin College while eating lunch in Brunswick, Maine earlier this week.
I admire leaders of the past for having the courage to make hard decisions. That would include Abraham Lincoln.
Wish our leaders could even manage to open the government and pay its employees! Oops, did not mean to say that part out loud! LOL!
