Pray for Sofia and Venezuela
Shared this with the Ladies’ Prayer Meeting last night but I promised a few of you to let you know how this went.
Noel and I had our Sunday lunch at P’al Carajo yesterday. It is a Venezuelan restaurant we had been intending to try. I felt a bit doubtful how it would be considering two major earthquakes and a bunch of aftershocks have destroyed a good part of Caracas since Weds. Venezuelans who have become citizens here and own businesses probably already send a lot of money to extended family there and now this tragedy.
Well, the atmosphere was cheerful and friendly. The food was good. Sofia, our server, was kept busy most of the time we were there. As we went to pay our bill, the downstairs was suddenly empty except us. There was a flyer about aid to Venezuela so I told Sofia, in Spanish, that we are praying for Venezuela and that our church contributes to overseas aid in catastrophes. She told me she does have family in Caracas, that the infrastructure has been allowed to crumble over time, and that many people have now lost everything (there are also over 1500 dead and thousands still missing). I told her I would be praying for her and we hugged.
So some seed was planted but I had forgotten to get new tracts since our vacation. Pls pray for Sofia and if any of you who are meaning to eat there do go, pls continue reaching out to her.
