Lydia is still an inpatient. This Saturday will make one full month in the hospital. We expect that she will be there for several more weeks. We continue to reside at the Ronald McDonald House.
Surgery to biopsy the mass on her head was delayed because she developed an infection in her blood. She is in the middle of a 14 day IV antibiotic regimine. Once this is completed, we can hopefully get her surgery rescheduled.
This mass was called a "brain tumor" on the surgery consent that Amy signed. It encapsulates her shunt, which means her shunt will need to be replaced also.
Lydia continues to require a steady dose of pain meds to keep her calm. She sleeps most of the time. We are convinced that this tumor is the source of her pain and the four different neurosurgeons here that we have spoken to say this is a very distinct possibility.
