Helpful Directions to Disable AI Responses in your Gmail

To turn off AI responses and summaries in Gmail, you must disable the Smart Features and Workspace smart controls in your account settings.

Desktop Steps

• Open Gmail on your computer.

• Click the Gear Icon (Settings) in the top right corner, then click See all settings.

• Stay on the General tab and scroll down to the Google Workspace smart features section.

• Click Manage Workspace smart feature settings.

• Uncheck or toggle off Smart features in Google Workspace and Smart features in other Google products.

• Scroll further up or down on the main General tab and uncheck Smart features and personalization if you want to turn off basic text predictions like Smart Reply and Smart Compose completely.

• Scroll to the bottom and click Save Changes.

Mobile App Steps

• Open the Gmail app on your phone or tablet.

• Tap the Menu icon (three lines) in the top left corner.

• Scroll down and tap Settings.

• Select your specific email address.

• Scroll down to the General or Data Privacy section and uncheck/turn off Smart features and personalization.
