Yesterday's library time involved a good discussion of why we learn to read. I would love to hear your thoughts on that, too. In a world of talk to text, why do we learn to write and spell? In a world of apps that read almost every possible book to us, including the Bible, why do we learn to read for ourselves? The children understand the importance of knowing the Bible and then of knowing our literary traditions. But I am reading them the Narnia series, much of which has already been made into at least one movie. What say you? Why do we learn to read and write, even with today's technology?
