When Mountains Fall . . .

This is a view of the mountaintops in Zion National Park, seen from the main road through the park, close to the tunnel. This is about the highest point in the road; at nearly 6000 feet it is over a mile high. Yet the mountaintops loom overhead. Now imagine that Mount Everest is nearly 30,000 feet tall, or almost 6 miles above sea level. Last week there was a terrible avalanche in the Himalayas near Mount Everest. It created a mudslide on its way down of ice, water, mud, and rocks that has killed over a thousand people with over 4000 still missing. There were over 80 American tourists at the border checkpoint between Nepal and Tibet/China right there whose bodies may never be found. Does it make you wonder what would happen if a glacier on Mount Everest ever fell? Or, even more sobering, does it make you think that in Revelation 6, unsaved people will actually call for the mountains to fall on them in order to avoid the wrath of the Lamb of God? They have now seen what a falling mountain can do and they will still prefer that to facing Jesus after they have rejected Him. How serious we must be about sharing the gospel!!!
