That was today!

I went to my dentist before I went to work.

I have been speaking Spanish with her for a year and never thought to ask her where she is from!

It’s Venezuela!

And the hygienist got me all wound up and ready for Dr. Rice to come in.

When she walked in, I asked, “Usted es de Venezuela?”

She was raising her arms in the air and pumping her fists.

So I said, “Bendiciones” and “Alabanza a Dios!” “Blessings” and “Praise God!”

And she launched at me in the most grateful hug because I spent 27 years in the Navy and 45 years overall supporting our military.

Dr. Bush reminded me that Venezuela’s ruin started with people voting in socialism because they thought the state would give them free things. But now they want their freedom of speech back along with the freedom to not be imprisoned for disagreeing with their government. She told me it will take a while but they will build Venezuela back better.

And now that she is a citizen here, she plans to stay and help us combat socialism, but then retire in Venezuela. It is a dream come true for her!

I had forgotten, all week, that we are dealing with real people with real stories, not just the news cycle. Dr. Bush helped me rejoice for the Venezuelan people.

Oh, and it is super easy to witness to people who have just seen a miracle. She was thinking about politics but I told her that Christ is my life and that is why I delight to serve people. I made her cry . . .
