Being a Witness as I Say Goodbye

One more week of work!

Tonight, with sadness, I said goodbye to two very sweet young men, both unsaved. One has parents born in India; one has parents or grandparents born in Vietnam. I told them both, individually, about the tract Annette Dudley wrote, sitting on my shelf. I told them both they are welcome to take one. They are super smart, hardworking young men. I pray I will see them again in glory.

A young woman I have worked with briefly and who just got married walked by and I told her I requested her on FB, now that I am leaving. She promised to wait till next Friday to accept me. I said quietly, “You may know I am a Christian. You will see some things about that on there.” She said, “I am a Christian, too, Miss Mary.” We sat there grinning at each other. First century Christians had greetings that signaled to each other that they believed; we made our signal a high five. Such joy!

It is very hard saying goodbye to people you’ve worked with for a good while and tried to witness to, knowing you may never see them again and wondering if they will ever have another person share Christ with them. But we can trust God that the witness we shared with them will one day bring fruit. God knows where they are and is able to stay at work in their hearts.
