When God Makes the Worst Possible Thing Joyful
Because we are so close to D.C. and because we collaborate online or on the phone with people up there every day, my office was stunned this morning to learn of the murder last night of those two young people from the Israeli embassy, a couple out for the night at an event at the Jewish Museum, a mile from the Capitol and 1.5 miles from the White House. The American man who killed them traveled there from Chicago and yelled “Free Palestine” as pulled the trigger. An obvious anti-Semitic murder in 2025 in the heart of our capital.
When I saw a picture of those beautiful young people I wondered where they are now. Could they, as Jewish people, possibly have known Jesus? I have been so sobered all day thinking about them and praying for those left behind.
Well, God works in extremely mysterious ways. Jews for Jesus just sent out an email that Yaron Lischinsky was a Messianic Jew who, back in Israel, belonged to a congregation of Jews who believe in Jesus as their Saviour and Messiah. Since he was about to ask Sarah Lynn Milgrim to marry him, she was most likely saved as well.
So such terrible grief today but also God’s sovereignty. Out of all the Jewish people at that museum gathering last night, the gunman managed to pick two people who went straight to Heaven!
There is a YouTube channel named "Sergio and Rhoda in Israel". He is a Christian Jew and she is a saved Palestinian Arab. Unusual coupling. Pretty cool videos.
