We just got this report on Susan. We thought a granddaughter was sending the reports but it is VW’s sister Becca. She goes over every evening and spends the night with Susan. What a comfort it must be for VW to know his sister is taking such good care of his wife.
VW saw the surgeon in the hall and he said he was coming back after lunch today to talk with us. He will review all that’s happened since he has been out of town and touch base.
They gave her Tessalon Perles this morning around 9:15 and the cough is much better, but it gets better in the daytime anyway. Thankful for that respite. Sat on the edge of the bed, hair brushed, face washed, she brushed her teeth and used the potty chair. Up for about 20 minutes and she is wasted. She is sleeping now. Pressure was 115/71 (85) while sitting up. That’s with the medicine to bring her pressure up.
Another dr rounded this morning to discuss getting her discharged to rehab, and I respectfully but firmly told him she is not ready to go anywhere until they get her regulated here. Get to the bottom of the pressure issue as well as the cough. They mentioned the cough may be secondary to the open heart surgery, but I told him it correlated with the tube and swallow test.
WRONG morning to come in talking about
the discharge!! I’ve had about enough of that. We are on the battlefront and I intend to stand my ground! I may need bail money!! Love to all💕

Met with Dr Bart (surgeon). He is pleased with how she looks compared to how he left her, but he is loud and clear on our concerns about sending her to Sticht Center too early. Will monitor pressure the next couple of days, changing her cough suppressant, and addressing her nutrition. He wants to give her a couple of days for nutrition as well before intervention. He seems to think that her deconditioning and lack of nutrition and fluid intake has contributed to her BP being too low. They will monitor accordingly, and he will also consult with neurology for confirmation. He wants to wait before we subject her to an MRI with sedation or a feeding tube. He agrees we try to get her to Sticht center. He is here this week and will keep in touch as well as Jess (the lady that agreed to remove the tube). Both will keep an eye. We showed her the bruising and soreness on the left leg as well and she will watch that too. She is also monitoring bloodwork and will give IV fluids as necessary to bolster her.
I also requested nurse snotwad to be reassigned. So bail money no longer necessary. All I could think of last night was security and police being called on Daniel when daddy was in the hospital.
Today started out tough but she has worked with PT and walked quite a ways and then sat in the chair for a couple hours, ate a little and is taking an afternoon nap. Progress and healing. So thankful. Love to all💕
