After the Jonah sermon last night . . .
Please pray for my USAF squadron of mostly unbelievers. Last night someone who works within ten feet of me took his own life. Granted, there is a five foot high shelving unit between our desks and he was in another work group (I am not even putting name to face) but that hits close to home.
I could be a Jonah and just say his choices have nothing to do with me—that everyone pretty much knows I am a Christian and he could have asked for help. But I think at a time like this, God wants to shake our foundations with whether we notice people, learn their names, learn something about them.
There are somewhere between 1000 and 1500 people in our building. We have had suicides in other squadrons since I have been there. I am not going to get into feeling personally responsible for 1500 lives but . . . this latest has sobered me and made me think again, “How can I be more responsive to the Master and His ways of reaching others?”

So sorry to hear this, Mary. It is a sobering thing to know there are people we practically rub shoulders with each day who are hopeless, and planning things like this and we know nothing about it. Praying you can be a light to those around you. Please pray the same for me.
