Update On Randal Hayes
As a lay person, I will explain as best as I can Randal's situation. He experienced an embolic brain shower. A ball of infection is near his aorta and pieces of it broke loose and traveled to his brain. Those pieces got lodged in tiny vessells and blocked blood and oxygen from the brain, which caused a stroke. This ball can be surgically removed, but Randal is not a good candidate for heart surgery. So the strength of his antibiotics has been increased to dissolve the ball.
There is presently a blood clot in the vessell on the right side of his neck that leads to his brain. Per the Neurologist, they can safely increase the blood thinner 7 or 8 days (I can't remember which) after his stroke, which will dissolve the clot. His vitals are stable, therefore, he was transfered out of the ICU to the Neurology Floor. His eyes are opening and then shutting again. Seems like sometimes voluntary & sometimes involuntary. However, he responded strongly by opening & shutting his eyes & following my grandson, Darrell's voice this evening.
